1. I was not that familiar with Blur's work except for a couple of songs, being they didn't make that much of a dent in the US. I was watching a documentary "Live Forever" on 90s British Pop which featured OASIS, Blur (Specifically Park Life), and Pulp so I decided to buy the Best Of CD. Excellent stuff. Better late than never for me/5().

2. At the time of the release this was only a moderate success, it charted on #28 in the UK, but in no other country. But over time it gained much popularity, it was voted #15 of "50 Best London Songs" of Time Out magazine. It was part of Mojo's "The 50 Greatest British Tracks Ever" and Blur fans (on the appropriately named hoaclimkainagetvigarepsimapogsa.xyzinfo) voted it their 5th favorite single.

3. It's boring to point out omissions on hits compilations, especially when a collection is as generous as the track The Best of Blur, but let's do it anyway. The Best of Blur largely bypasses the group's key album, Modern Life Is Rubbish, the record that invented Brit-pop, skewing in favor of the self-consciously "experimental" 13, which, for all of its attributes, wasn't a singles album.

4. Modern Life is Rubbish is for me, the finest Blur album. With this album they matured from the 'Madchester' to a credible identity of their own. From For Tomorrow to The Universal, the album gives an insight into their Stadium and Festival filling future. Without this album and its success there would be no Parklife, Beetlebum, Song 2 or Out of /5().

5. After listening to this cd you are going to get a positive sense of why Damon Albarn was selected to be the frontman for both the Gorillaz and Blur. Damon has a very strong and good singing voice in many of the songs. Like the Gorillaz, the music used in the Blur songs is very unique and energetic/5().
